Two months ago, I happened to see the list of Amazon’s best-selling soda makers. I wanted to see if they’re really worth their spot on the list. There are actually more than twenty on the list but some of them are just bottles and bundles. And I don’t think I can manage to make soda twenty times, anyway.
Besides, I can’t buy all of them and I can’t drink that much so I’ll only make a review on the first ten best soda makers on that list. The reviews will talk about the features of each soda maker, and if those features are really necessary, what I like or dislike, and my thoughts about them, if they deserve to be on the list.

To help you in the daunting selection task, we reviewed some of the best items which are currently on the market. In addition, we outlined various factors to pay attention to during the purchase.
#10. Cuisinart SMS-201BK Sparkling Beverage Maker
This Cuisinart Beverage Maker lets you create a yummy soda with filtered water or tap water. Just add your own ingredients and you’re all set. This also lets you choose the carbonation level to satisfy your cravings for a carbonated flavored drink.
I must admit that this beverage maker is a lot expensive considering that it has been released 5 years ago but it did deliver great results. I was happy with what I paid for and how my drink tasted. It was perfect and worked totally better than SodaStream.

#9. DrinkMate 420-03-3Z Spritzer Beverage Carbonator
DrinkMate is the only carbonation system that can ‘carbonate’ and drink. From juices, coffee, iced tea, wine, to beer, you name it. DrinkMate just ‘sparkles’ them all. What I think is interesting about it is that it has a spritzer that can be quickly connected and detached for easy cleaning. It’s also compatible with other brands, as it can be used with any 3oz and 14.5oz carbonators.

#8. DrinkMate Beverage Carbonation Maker with 3oz Cylinder
This is the only carbonation system that can sparkle anything – from water to cocktails, you name it! When I first saw it on Amazon, I said this is going to be my favorite, although it’s quite expensive. When it was delivered to me, I was excited to use it, and it didn’t disappoint me at all. I tried to make sparkled water first and it was good. Then I wanted to make sure it can really sparkle anything so I tried with juice and it was great. I think the only problem I have with it is that it doesn’t indicate how many liters of bottles it’s capable of making. I was able to make 4 liters of different drinks, though.

#7. Kitchenaid Sparkling Beverage Maker
The Kitchenaid Sparkling Beverage Maker is powered by SodaStream and it uses a carbonation lever so you can fizz up your drink depending on how carbonated you want it to be. Well, that’s what it says on Amazon. But when I tried to use it, it didn’t fizz, at all. I’m not sure what happened. Maybe I just didn’t understand how the lever works but I spent 5 hours trying to make it work. I just stopped and gave up.

#6. SodaStream 60L CO2 Carbonator
This is the “largest” sparkling water brand (it can make up to 120 1-liter bottles) and it’s also the leading distributor and manufacturer of sparkling water makers. With it, you can transform your ordinary water into sparkling water or flavored sparkling water that tastes like real soda in just a matter of seconds.
This is perfect for a big family who likes to drink flavored sparkling water. As for me, I’m not a big fan. It’s cheap compared to other soda makers but it’s just too large for me. I wanted to test what will happen if I made 120 bottles but I just didn’t have time.

#5. SodaStream Source Sparkling Water Maker Starter Kit
Another soda maker from SodaStream is called the SodaStream Source Sparkling Water Maker Kit. It has an elegant design and its bottle can easily be locked into place with just one push. What makes it different from the 60L CO2 carbonator is that it shows you the carbonation level via an LED indicator. This is a bit smaller, which is totally okay for me because I wouldn’t need a lot, anyway. But I think 60 1-liter bottles is still quite a lot for a family. Would a family really need to drink 60 bottles of sparkling water?

#4. SodaStream Jet Sparkling Water Maker Starter Kit
Similar to the other SodaStream products, the Jet Sparkling Water Maker Starter Kit can support both 60L bottles and 130L bottles. There’s not much of a difference besides the design because this one is made perfectly for people who frequently carbonate their water. I bought this 3 weeks ago and I like how it’s compatible with the bottles I had for the other SodaStream products. However, I still wanted to know what would happen if I make 131 bottles. Does it mean I have to replace it after the 130th, bottle, or what? Anyway, I think in terms of design, this is by far my favorite from the SodaStream family.

#3. CO-Z Desktop Sparkling Water Maker Black
The mini carbonated soda maker is by far the most advanced and most compact soda maker. I’m saying that because unlike the other soda makers, this one’s just perfect in terms of size. It’s easy to use and produces just the right taste for your water. I’m saying that because I’m not a big fan of those “hulk” soda makers. This one’s just great although it doesn’t really carbonate a lot. It’s just enough to give you a bit of fizziness. In terms of taste, I think I’ll go with other carbonators but if you’re okay with just okay, then this one may be just right for you.

#2. AARKE – CARBONATOR II
This one was just released last month and I knew I had to try it for $199. I know it’s too expensive for a carbonator but I read a lot of good things about it. So I tried it and I can admit that it is by far the slimmest as well as the most compact among the group of sparkling water makers. In terms of design, I think this is better than SodaStream. I like that it specifically tells people to only use pure, refrigerated water and not just any water so people won’t misuse it. I just hope it wasn’t too strict with what to carbonate, though. I want to carbonate other drinks, too but it says no, so I guess I’ll move on.

#1. SodaStream Penguin Earth-Friendly Glass Carafe Soda Maker
This is the cutest design by SodaStream. I mean, who doesn’t like penguins? This is also easy to use, too. You just fill the glass with water, insert it inside the penguin, and press the beak. You can enjoy the carbonated drink. What I like about it a lot is that I could experiment on my drink and still get the amount of fizz I want. This could have been my favorite if not for its size. I think it’s just too big that I couldn’t fit it in the kitchen cabinet. I had to leave it on the table, which is a bummer in my opinion.

Conclusion
The “best soda maker” isn’t always the one who can produce more. Sometimes, less is more. What these manufacturers fail to realize sometimes is that they’re being too technical so when they promote a product’s features, they just focus on the things the product can do instead of focusing on what consumers need. For example, being able to make 120 1-liter bottles of carbonated water sounds excellent, but is that really necessary? Do family members drink a lot of carbonated water to create something like that?
The soda makers are arranged from 10 to 1 to help you decide. SodaStream soda makers are the best selling ones on Amazon but I don’t think they’re the best. If you’re looking for a tool that can sparkle anything – by that I mean any drink, then you know DrinkMate will be the best option. It isn’t very expensive at all. You should buy DrinkMate Beverage Carbonation Maker and I guarantee that you’re never going to regret it.
